COMMANDANT - HERB BRADLEY

Herb Bradley enlisted in the Marine Corps in February 1966. Upon graduating from Recruit training he attended formal school where he became qualified as an Aviation Radar Technician (MOS 6236). His assignments included 1st and 2nd Marine Aircraft Wings. Herb spent a tour of duty in the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam) from November 1967 to December 1968 with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron-314 (VMFA-314), known famously as the "Black Knights". VMFA-314 proved itself to be the foremost Marine Squadron and participated in combat operations in North and South Vietnam, Laos and the Tonkin Gulf. Herb left the Marine Corps in February 1970 after honorably serving four years.

Herb's personal awards include the Republic of Vietnam Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with '1960' device, the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. His other decorations include the Combat Action Ribbon and the Navy Unit Commendation.

During June 2008, Herb spearheaded efforts that led to the formation of the Marine Corps League Detachment in Carrollton.  He was elected as the detachment's first Commandant the following month. His outstanding efforts and firm leadership resulted in the Detachment receiving its Official Charter from the Marine Corps League's National Headquarters on August 18, 2008.

Herb is known to say "not as lean, not as mean but I really am a better Marine than I was then".  He has studied the Korean Martial Art of Tae Kwon Do and earned his Black Belt in 1990.  He resides in Carrollton, GA.
