ABOUT THE TOYS- FOR-TOTS PROGRAM

Toys for tots began in 1947, when Major Bill Hendricks, USMCR and a group of Marine Reservists in Los Angeles collected and distributed 5,000 toys to needy children. Over the 62 years of the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program, Marines have distributed more than 400 million toys to more than 188 million needy children. This charitable endeavor has made U. S. Marines the unchallenged leader in looking after less fortunate children at Christmas.

Ways you can help Toys for Tots

1. Donate a toy to your community's Toys for Tots campaign.

2. Donate your time to assist your communty's Toys for Tots campaign.

3. Donate service support to your community's Toys for Tots campaign.

4. Allow the Toys for Tots team to use an empty warehouse to store and sort toys.

5. Allow the Toys for Tots team to use a vehicle to collect toys throughout your community.

A Call to Action

We invite you to join the Toys for Tots Team and become a part of the U.S. Marine Corps' premier community action program and one of the nation's flagship Christmas charitable causes. Last year we provided Christmas to over 7,800 children across West Georgia thanks to the generosity from local communities and businesses as well as the many volunteers who helped make it all possible. The 2011 Toys for Tots campaign is underway and there will be several scheduled community events between now through December in Carroll, Heard and Haralson Counties that require volunteers to assist with the collection of toys and/or donations. If you would like to make a difference in the lives of children in our communities and ensure that all of them have a Christmas this year then please contact one of our representatives.
